Went for dinner on a Saturday evening with 2 other couples. Very few people there. Still, service was slow and below average. Food was OK. Left with the impression that breakfast or lunch must be their specialty because it sure wasn't dinner..

My favorite breakfast spot in KC! We come here every time we are in town for breakfast and are never disappointed!! This morning was exceptionally great, our waitress, Nicole, was so sweet and friendly. She had the best personality and made our experience extra special with her upbeat personality and humor. The food is always fantastic, I never know what to order because everything is soo good! We each had something different, I loved the sweet and salty pancakes. But I also highly recommend the Rice Krispy French toast, and the tacos. Definitely a must go to spot!!

We came her for 435 Tasty Tuesday and let me say it was delicious! They had 2 items on their menu for this event which included a Chicken salad with some very fresh ingredients. The other option which I did not try was the pork chop with mashed potatoes. The whole restaurant had a modern/chic feel to it with the colorful wallpaper all the way down to the tile floors. Our server was rushed for some reason and she threw stuff on our table almost breaking the cups when refilling our water. And from what we could tell the restaurant wasn't that busy! My guess was that she was rushing because she knew she wouldn't get a huge tip from the Tasty Tuesday deal. (meals are $4.35) Overall we had a good experience I would definitely go back on my own time and order Cory's Chicken Salad again it was delicious!

Best chicken nachos I've ever had in my life, go during happy hour and they were only 5 bucks.

Let's just say I had to use a lot of salt and pepper and couldn't cut through the English muffin part of my Benedict with a knife. The space is lovely though.

I have been here numerous times and real like it...let me count the ways 1) The place is local, vastly more refined than most local hangs..but local 2) They serve very good breakfast and for the moment you can get in for it, without a wait..! Both of these are JOCO rarities! 3) Great happy hour 3-6 seven days a week..

Loved this place! I went (once again) for the 435 Tasty Tuesdays and got the chicken salad. Again..don't expect huge portions with the Tasty Tuesdays (unless you go to Nick & Jake's). The inside of this place is amazing! I loved the atmosphere and design of it all. The service was okay but a little quick and bitter (?). I would come back and definitely get a normal entree! BRAVO!

This was the worst restaurant experience that I have ever had. Came in for a father's day breakfast. We sat at the bar because we really didnt want to wait for a table. The bartender, Kristen i think was her name, was slammed with a full bar all ordering and taking drink orders for the waitstaff. Management didnt even acknowledge her behind the bar. We waited well over an hour for our breakfast. Just as we got our meal, the incoming patrons were told they could only do the buffet as the kitchen couldnt keep up. Several tables got up and walked out. Someone needs to show the chef, I will use that term loosely, how to make over easy eggs. They were overhard, hash browns were flavorless and the toast was toasted on a char grill. Could have had a better breakfast at McDonalds. A manager briefly stopped by to say our meal was comped, which it was, and we never saw her again. I am giving 1 star due to the efforts of the bartender, she was the only brightspot of this whole experience.

This place would only taste good if you were hammered. My family came here for lunch, and every dish we tried was equally as bad. The Coconut chicken fingers were greasy and overcooked. The French Onion Dip was all wrong. The meat was bland and chewy, and the dip was equally as bland. Seriously, how hard is it to slow cook a roast and slice it thin? The Italian salad was about as good as a prepackaged salad you'd find at the grocery store..or worse. Overall this place does not deserve it's 4 star rating. The restaurant itself is a nice clean building, but I will never go again. If you like good food, skip this one.

Very nicely decorated, modern look to the gem from the past. PBnJ restaurant group has put together some wonderful concepts in the city, grand street cafe, is one of my favorites, so when paradise diner opened up, we wanted to give it a try. We lost our northland location 10+ years ago. We had reservations for 8, and were promptly seated, given both breakfast and lunch menus. Great selection, but I was in the mood for bacon and eggs. Easy order, 3 eggs overhard, and crisp bacon. 2 of the 3 eggs were correct, bacon was far from crisp...huh...maybe too complicated. I didn't complain, as I was hungry...but I did notice the manager making rounds in the restaurant, and having several conversations doing damage control. My wife ordered a salad with dressing on the side, but came out drenched in dressing. They quickly fixed it. It seemed like the waitress was overwhelmed for some reason and didn't pick up on the order specifics. Plus she tended to "drop" things off, and left water all over the table when refilling water glasses. But recooking food, hurts the bottom line, but worse...leaves people feeling like, why can't they get my order right. Overall, there was nothing that bad or that great with the meal, but I did notice on a Sunday morning with waits all over joco, people were not lining up to experience dining in paradise...

Very happy that this "old friend" reopened in Prairiefire after a long absence. Physically different from the old premises at Oak Park Mall, with bright, almost psychedelic decor, but with a menu similar to the original, with American diner favorites done well. I had the chili and a small Cobb salad and was happy with both. Exactly what I was in the mood for! Welcome back, Paradise Diner! Glad to have you back where you belong!

I've given Paradise Diner two chances and both times I've left underwhelmed and overcharged. Love breakfast so I was excited to try out a new place. First off from the hostess, waitress, and other wait staff I just felt like I was a nuisance. The hostess told us that they were full and it would be a 20 minute wait, while the place was MAYBE half full. Do you have reservations for 10:00am? After a minute the manager said he would get us a spot. The menu sounds great with many interesting dishes, but in reality they are just gouging you for "fancy" breakfast. I ordered the LUMBERJACK omelet. Dude, if anything sounds like a hearty breakfast it is an omelet, with hash browns, served over a couple pancakes. When it came I seriously thought there was some mistake. The omelet was smaller than my hand, the pancakes were 2 silver dollar pancakes, and the hash browns were the diameter of a tangerine. Oh and the best part is that it was $10. Ain't no lumberjack I've seen going to enjoy this mini breakfast that cost them $2 to make, yet charge $10. My daughter had the waffle which is cut in quarters and stacked to give the illusion that it is worth $7. Our waitress was a bit rude when my wifes order came wrong. She proceeded to tell her that her order was so complicated that the kitchen got confused. Asking for no hollandaise and a dry English muffin isn't complicated. In the end breakfast cost the 4 of us $52 without gratuity. I can go somewhere and spend half as much, while getting a real breakfast without the side of attitude.

Nice people, but underwhelmed. We made reservations for Christmas Eve and left disappointed. It seems like this place has a bit of an identity crisis. The food is diner-like but at high-end prices. For Christmas Eve, it was not busy, yet took a while for 4 uncomplicated drinks to arrive at our table. We ordered a variety of food, from a house salad (probably the most boring house salad I have had in a LONG time - something reminiscent of a larger chain restaurant, not someplace that totes local fare), to salmon (overcooked), to quiche (small, with fruit?), a dinner spinach salad (that was more the size of an appetizer salad), and the half chicken. The chicken was supposed to come with asparagus... and when it was missing from the plate, I was brought broccoli rabe because they were out of asparagus. Nice gesture, but would have been nice to know ahead of time. The server was great, and so was the manager, particularly on a Christmas Eve. But they need to polish things up a bit.

Meh. I'm a fan of the restaurant group that operates the paradise dinner but they've fallen a little short here. I ordered a hot tea which I know every server hates but deal with it. Coffees were eventually refilled around the table but I had to ask for more hot water (he did tell me to take two tea bags). I had the Benny with bacon and avocado and it was ok. It comes with hash browns so I asked for a small side of sausage gravy. They gave me lots (too much) gravy but how can that be bad. This is a kitchen that seems afraid to salt their food. In our group was ordered the short stack of pancakes. They are very sweet with vanilla. If you're hungry and want three big pancakes, there you go. The bathrooms were clean and they have cloth hand towels so that's nice. The entry door could use a redesign.

Very good food, very good service. Our waiter was pretty busy (Saturday night on Restaurant week) - the manager was patrolling the floor, saw I had my card in my hand, without a word he took the card, ran the ticket and was back in ~10 seconds with a smile and a pen. Great place for kid-free nights.

The brunch was delicious! And unlike most great KC brunch places, they take reservations. Only reason for not giving 5 stars was the service. Overall not bad, but the waitress dripped beverages all over the table, menus and even hot coffee on my hands when refilling. At the end of the day, I highly recommend!

Beautiful restaurant! Gorgeous marble bar in the center makes me want to sit there and sip a Watermelon Juicer all afternoon! We went on a Friday night, and ordered cocktails which were really fresh and delicious. We had Lemon Basil Martini, Watermelon Juicer, Raspberry Lemondrop.. They infuse their vodka, so they cocktails just taste that much fresher! The prices are right, too. not overpriced like most places. They have all day breakfast which I LOVE....but didn't order this time. I ordered the Campo Lindo Chicken and really liked it. Skin on chicken....so not your typical dried out breast....atop a bed of fingerling potatoes, topped with caperberries, chilis, kalamata olives. It was really filling and nice. I ate every bite. My dinner partners ordered the SureFire Chicken Sandwich and a Cheeseburger. They both were very happy with their selections as well. The hamburger was cooked to perfection. For dessert we shared the Profiteroles which is sort of like a cream puff split and filled with a vanilla ice cream sitting on a bed of milk chocolate cream and drizzled with chocolate cream and sliced almonds. A perfect touch. We had a waitress in training who was darling and did a great job. The atmoshere is nice....not too loud, but fun. They have great music at this place....I loved that the manager was present the whole time walking through making sure things were under control....and singing to the music. They are still working out a few little serving kinks....but they get that ironed out soon. I'll be back!

We tried the Paradise dinner for our Anniversary, the food and Service was Great. We had the Shrimp Alfredo, which was extremely tasty and the Club Sandwich with the Tomato Soup. The waiter found out it was our anniversary and prepared a special desert which included a Cremebrule which was the absolute best Ever!!

Not the best family member of the PBnJ group. In fact, hard to believe they are even related. SLOW, slow slow for 1:30 pm lunch on a Tuesday. Mediocre salads with poor presentation. Asked the waitress if they had balsamic vinagrette and she brought me straight vinegar. After I couldn't get her to understand what I meant despite multiple attempts, I opted to just get olive oil and mix it myself. Menu listed goat cheese and pear and I had to get out my reading glasses to find them. Portions are small and the flatbreads sparingly decorated with food, even for me, not being a huge eater. Bread for the sandwiches is boring, and meat was so-so, nothing I couldn't get from the sale section at the Price Chopper deli. The decor and ambiance are lovely and cozy - the only saving grace. There are many other great lunch spots in the area, but this is not one.

Love this place. I've been twice and will probably be there again soon. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Didn't give it 5 stars because my french toast was a little gooey. My Eggs Benedict on a prior visit was awesome and the fruit was very fresh.

I had breakfast at the Paradise diner Sunday morning for the first time. I will have to admit my first experience was not a great one but I will give them one more shot. I ordered the breakfast tacos that comes with hashbrowns but they were out of hashbrowns and substituted with sliced potatoes. Potatoes were greasy and cold but the tacos were pretty good. I will have to give them a round of applause for realizing that I was not being satisfied. I guess they realized I did not eat the potatoes so they offered to buy my mail. The manager to come by and apologize. Get I will send impressed because I did not complain but they realized I was not satisfied. I will definitely give them another try because I think I just had one of those anomalies.

I guess I can't call the food was bad it would have to have flavor to be bad. I had the coconut chicken salad and my wife have the chicken sandwich and neither had any flavor at all. Service was also very slow and they were not that busy.

The only thing that saved the day was our server. He was great. The food was mediocre at best! Very expensive for portion size. Had the quiche of the day. It was microscopic in size and bland. If they want to stay in business in Johnson county they are definitely going to have to pick up the pace!!!

My husband and I had our first date at the original Paradise Diner at Oak Park Mall in 1995. You can imagine how excited we were to see that a new incarnation of the PB&J restaurant was opening at Prairiefire! We went in just two days after they opened for business. The staff was quick to greet us and immediately showed us to a table. Our server was very friendly and knowledgeable. We each started with a soup - my husband with the chowder and me with the tomato bisque. Both soups were very good. Just as we did on our first date, we both ordered the Cory's Chicken Salad - a specialty that has been featured at several PB&J locations over the years. The salads, as expected, met our approval. We were able to take advantage of the beautiful spring evening on the lovely little patio. I can't wait to go back!

I ate here for dinner during restaurant week. The food was fine. Not great but fine. Our server was extremely young and inexperienced. He made several mistakes during service but was very nice about correcting them. For example, he brought our water glasses to the table right from the dishwasher and told us not to touch them so we don't burn ourselves. I told him to take them to the bar and put ice and water in them until they cool. Who wants their water in a hot glass? Weird. Causal vibe and noisy inside. Our entee came out before we were half done with our salads- I hate that and think it is evidence of a poorly run kitchen. Overall an okay experience but don't think I will return.

Been there twice so far. Incredible service and food. Husband didn't like what he ordered and they practically feel all over themselves to get him something else. Went back and service was still just as great. Oh and the food rocks! Coffee is good and we were offered to go cups to take more with us. Great Bloody Mary! Our new fav for breakfast.

The word "Diner" has certain connotations and meanings, and even if you are trying to be trendy, some of these things are basic. Breakfast should be served most of the day (not here). The Bar should not take up half the restaurant with the alcohol list taking up more than half the menu. The food portions should be good value for the money. And the specials should be special, or again, at least a good value. None of this is true for the Paradise Diner. I wanted to walk out right after we got there, but my wife convinced me to stay. After being presented with the lunch special salad which was the size of a small side, she wished she had let us leave. I had the half-sandwich and soup combo, and it was not great in taste or value. The Clam Chowder tasted like underwhelming potato soup with a few bites of clam, and the French Dip wasn't anything special. Service wasn't bad, but not great, and time to bring out this small portion of food was on the long side. Since we didn't have anything really bad, I hesitate to give it 1 star, but it certainly isn't close to getting a 3 in my book. I love lots of other PB&J places, but this is a disappointment (one of many at the new Prairiefire complex).

Was excited to go for breakfast today, but it really was mediocre at best. Hash browns were good. I had the Italian Benedict described as proscuitto, mozzarella , tomatoes. The proscuitto was sliced so thick like ham and extremely salty and overcooked so it was tough, and no mozzarella to be found. I told the waitress and she said you should have told me earlier and we would have made another. Really? It became my fault? My husbands omelet was overcooked and dry.

Great staff, great service, amazing food. This is a foodie haven, not a regular "diner"--just sayin'. Creative and delicious menu-- everything we had was awesome--curry spiced fries, crispy Brussels sprout leaves, the sauce on the mussels is really good. Go for happy hour and stay for awhile. Free valet parking too!

Overall, really good. I had the chicken and waffles. It came with four mini waffles, super crispy fried chicken, maple syrup, and house made hot sauce. I thought it was great, and the Philly complaint I had was the hot sauce. I wish there was more immediate spice, rather than spice lingering in the back of the throat. However, every other component was great, and the portion size was large. My dining companions weren't quite as happy with their meal as I was, but I'd definitely come back here again.

Great breakfast options. Service was a bit off but the manager recognized it and remedied the situation perfectly. Great example of a service recovery. We will be back!

I couldn't tell what was worse, the food or our annoyingly over-attentive server. Do not get the Bahn Mi! It's the worst sandwich I've had in a while and that includes the peanut butter open-face I made myself the other day.
